Education Update

If you are looking for updated information on school opening, visit hdsd.org contact the SAU by phone, or reach out to a board member. The reopening plan was approved by the board on Tuesday, Aug 4. The first day of school for students is Tuesday, September 8, 2020, and there is a “hybrid” option with students attending twice a week and two days at home in remote with a third day at home as a planning day for teachers when students will also be working remotely. The administration, staff, and teachers on three task forces have worked hard to develop this plan with parent and community input from surveys that were sent out over the last few months. This is still a fluid and evolving situation and things will be modified as needed including a switch to FULL remote if that becomes necessary as well as the possibility that students could have a full return later this year or in 2021. Thank you all for your constant support of our students, administration, teachers, and staff in this uncharted territory. What our districts and others across the country are doing has never been done before.

There are two events sponsored by community organizations, not the school district with state and local education officials in August. Both events are outside and will practice social distancing and masks are strongly encouraged! Thank you!
